Buddha means the awaken one , he lived and taught in the eastern part of the Indian subcontinent , between the 6th and 4th centuries B.C.E. The founder of Buddha is Prince Siddartha but Buddhism was founded in India over 2500 years ago. Buddhism is a major religion in many countries in Asia. Prince Siddartha lived close to starvation , and he always meditated under a bodhi tree.
The four Noble truths for Buddhism is :
#1 There is suffering. Nothing is permanent. Everything changes, include the self. The self is an illusion.
#2 Suffering is caused by desire
#3 Suffering can be eliminated when desire and selfishness are eliminated
#4 The Eight fold Path-right understanding , right speech , right determination , right conduct , right living , right effort , right meditation , right peace of mind - can eliminate desire and selfishness.
Buddhism is a path of practice and spiritual development and meditation means of changing yourself in order to develop good qualities like awareness , wisdom , and kindness. Buddhism is for all people regardless of race etc.
